The Singer Building

Located in the Gateway Arts District, The Singer Building is a mixed-use redevelopment of three adjacent buildings that comprise a city block of Mount Rainier, Maryland. The Singer Building includes Singer Flats, 11 apartments restored from the original 1936 building structure situated above prime retail space. The real estate developers behind The Singer Building engaged Paper Robot to create the project identity and assist with graphics for the leasing website to keep the branding cohesive across channels and applications.

What we did for The Singer Building

Timeless Branding

The branding of this asset required creating two unique, yet complementary logos to promote the commercial and residential portions of the project. Elements of this suite of logos and badges are influenced by the building's history as a former Singer Sewing Machine repair facility, coupled with the modern design of the apartments. The result is timeless branding that complements and elevates the project's marketing efforts.

The developers were able to lease all residential units before construction was complete. In addition, a team of veteran restaurateurs—connected to several award-winning DC establishments—opened Pennyroyal Station, a new bar and restaurant located in the building’s retail space.
